Queensland’s coalition has vowed to oppose any Constitutional changes that might further dismantle the checks and balances on a ‘one-man-band’ government. And the state government – whilst proposing changes that could result in the abolition of the Governor’s reserve powers – has continued to incarcerate juvenile offenders in adult prisons, despite saying 13 years ago that it would stop doing so.
